Dyke March in S.F.
Back to Home Page.
On June 28 San Francisco held it's infamous Dyke March.  This was the first year that Melody and I participated.  We met up with Carol, Leigh and Alex.  It was a BLAST!!
There were so many women there for the march.  We were blown away by the crowd.  It's hard to tell, but this is the beginning of the march with the "Dykes on Bikes" roaring by.
As you can see, there is always lots of support from the locals as the march passes by their windows.  Going topless is the ultimate show of support to the marchers.
Here is a good picture of the "Dykes on Bikes" brigade.  Lots of women roaring down the street to start off the march.
Here are Karen, Carol, Alex and her friends getting ready to take their places and march through the streets of San Francisco.  (Melody is behind the camera)
Lots of women walking hand-in-hand as they wind their ways through the neighborhoods.  There were women of all ages, races, sizes, shapes...it was wonderful!
A sea of marchers.  This is just a small view of all the women who were marching.  There were thousands of women actually doing the march.  We were in good company.
Here we are...our first Dyke March!!
People line the streets and cheer on the marchers.  Here a couple watches as we pass by.  In the background you can see others who sit and watch and cheer.
Crowds of people party from their porches and, in this case, the fire escape to be a part of the festivities.  They are always supportive and fun to see as you walk.
Someone's beautiful artwork.  It is on the front of a building that we passed in the march.  The colors are spectacular!!
