“Sweet Surrender” By Angel-Marie
Cloukey |
Desciption of Submission: Poem about lesbian relationships and
how it's not about gender its about the heart.

I hear the laughter vividly I feel the burning eyes I taste the hatred on their breath It burns like salt and ice I see them watch my every move Each step I ever take The way they mutter and they glare And wait for me to break But they can try to drag me down I’ll go down screaming pride I will not be a tragedy Or turn my back and hide It’s not about between her legs It’s not about her hips It’s not about the ‘blasphemy’ No, she makes my heart skip Sometimes I can’t remember How to breathe when she’s around And when I hear her voice I start shaking to the sound It’s all about the way she laughs The way she holds my hand Heaven’s waiting in her arms She’s like the Promised Land So watch me, mutter, glare and hate It’s not about her gender I cannot stop my heart from feeling Such a sweet surrender. |
