“The Truth about True Love” By
Matthew Todd |
Desciption of Submission: “Monologue or poem about the beauty of true
love.” - Matthew

I think of
love as the moment a mother holds her newborn in her arms. Looking down
at her child sleeping still with its hand wrapped around her finger. I think of
love as the fours seasons of a place with a temperate climate. The gentle
warmth of spring to summer; a calm cool of autumn to winter. I think of
love as the moment the sun rises from blue hazy mountains. Then setting
on the horizon of an endless blue ocean reflecting its colors. I think of love
as a triumphant moment. When someone
wins their first trophy or first award, even something as simple as their
first ball game. Love can be
as complex as a map of the universe. But it can
also be as joyful and uplifting as a time of praise and worship. Love does not
mean a passionate kiss, strong lust, or an intense physical desire. Love is not a
temporary high, but a rich internal feeling that is meant to last forever. There is no
truth in yearning for what you see on the outside. There is no
truth in sex except to satisfy a craving that’ll go hungry again in no time. True love is
the happily ever after; the triumphant end; it’s even the way, the truth, and
the light. Love is life
and without it you just can’t live. |
