Description of Submission: I wrote this article for my high school newspaper to address the fact that the media's increasing portrayal of lesbian and bisexual behavior has filtered into the mainstream: teen girls are now much more open to sexual experimentation.  The startling trend among many of these girls, however is that they are often sexually experimenting with one another to get attention from boys.  This article is meant to examine the phenomon in full, revealing that while it helps make lesbianism/bisexuality less taboo, the trend is also exploitative.  With regard to the public views of homosexual lefestyles, the trend promotes ignorance by putting all of the emphasis on the sexual behaviors of lesbians/bisexuals while completely ignoring social and emotional aspects.  Furthermore, the trend often encourages a pattern of young women engaging in sexual activities solely to please men.

Why Karen and Melody Liked It: It was a unique idea to write an article about the same-sex kissing portrayed by the entertainment industry and how it affects students perception towards this issue.  It has many good quotes from students in this high school pertaining to these issues.
