Description of Submission: " When I read about the scholarship I thought to myself about how much I love art, but I'm no Michelangelo.  I decided to give it a whirl and go off on a creative idea that came to mind.  The quotes I have used are ones that I personally love, and have an effect on me each time I read them.  The drawing on the inside of the shoe is similar to a tattoo I drew myself and have.  The rainbow, no need for explanation.  I hope you enjoy!" - Theresa
Quote on the shoe include:
"The only queer people are those who don't love anybody" - Rita Mae Brown
"When I was in the military they gaveme a metal for killing two men and discharged me for loving one " - Leonard Matlovich.
"The important thing is not the object of love, but the emotion itself " - Gore Vidal

Biography: Theresa will be attending Marymount College of Fordham University.  She plans to major in Theater/Media.

Why Karen and Melody Liked It: We felt this work was very creative and unique, as Theresa used a "shoe" to exhibit gay pride.  We liked the personal touches that went into the shoe, such as putting personal quotes she liked around the shoe and adding the personal tattoo drawing she put in the shoe. Gay pride was effectively shown by coloring the shoe in gay pride colors.  Receiving the actual artwork, also allowed us to see the details of the piece, such as the shoe laces were of various different gay pride colors and glitter was used to outline the rainbow strips on the shoe.
