“The Color of Love” By
Nneka Chukwuelue Desciption of
Submission: “This poem is
about knowing who you are as a person and believing in the validity of your
love despite what others may say.” - Nneka |
I am who I am.
Not concerned,
Not content,
With all the things you say are wrong.
This is me.
Fighting a battle,
Looking for comfort,
In a world that says I don’t belong.
I know my heart.
I was made,
I was created,
To live out a purpose greater than you know.
My eyes and soul speak.
Telling stories,
Telling tears,
Of the places that all of you are scared
to go.
I love me.
Despite my faults,
Despite my mistakes,
I am exactly the person that I was meant to be.
I love her.
Embracing her goodness,
Touching her smile.
We are the color of love, even if you can never see.
