I met him when she was 14 She had a heart made out of gold He gave her heart to me one day When I was 38 years old So much time had passed between us Since the first day that we met But I knew she was the best man That I had ever met And this is for you You who showed me love again When you awoke it deep inside of me You showed me how to give When you gave me your love so deeply. There could never be a moment that is more
precious to me Then when you opened up your heart and let me
crawl inside. You gave my Spirit wings and let it soar
exquisitely, And in your loving arms I land and safely lie. And I am happy, For the first time in so long. And I feel like I matter Like I’ve wanted all along And I feel happy Like I never have before And I have you to thank For opening up the door. Now we are both together and it matters not to
me That the man I am in love with Was once considered “she” Because I love the man that I know Not his gender or his sex But his mind and body, heart and soul Although I sometimes feel so vexed Because some people just don’t understand It’s the person we should love And I thank God each and every day For this blessing from above For with him I’m happy For the first time in so long. And I feel like I matter Like I’ve wanted all along And I feel happy Like I never have before And I have you to thank For opening up the door to my soul. |
