Description of Submission: "I created girl about a month ago after being out to my parents and friends for close to two years. The comments in the painting were actually said to me, and were things that I never dreamed I'd hear from them. Fear is unavoidable though, and I was glad to hear waht they were feeeling. Since then, I've been 'outed' by my aunt to my whoe family. NOw, I feel taht I coudl create a million and one of these paintings, with all of the absurd things that I've heard." - Anonymous
Why Karen and Melody Liked It: It was a very though provoking painting. We liked having to turn the painting around to read the various comments. The coments are very common phrases that people do hear when confronted by society about being gay. |
