Description of Submission: "What I wanted to convey through this art piece was a feeling of femininity, the main focus of this piece is a new look on the traditional role of women, the ballerina is probabably one of the most traditionsl female figures in society what I wanted to do was to play with this aspect of our view of women and at the same time the role of the lesbian in our world.
This peice shows the universal love bewteen two non-traditionsl lovers. Long has the Ballerina Princess been the epitome of grace, beauty, and ultimate female standards. In the end, the princess always ends up with a prince, I wanted to change that, I wanted thsese characters to become even mote universal.
The overal themr in this piece id he theme of love, as well all know expressing love in a homosexual manner has always been and still is a very much looked down upon and tabooo. For these two characters finding love and being able to express it is a simple story, it's easy for them they don't have to fight any dragons." - Asa
Why Karen and Melody Liked It: It was a very nice drawing. We liked how all the 3 drawings linked to one and told a story. It was very creative to show ballet dancers as a gay couple. Also reciving the original allowed us to view the work on in more details. |
