| Description of Submission: "The piece represents the view of lesbianism from anyone viewing it as a "practice" or by those venturing to participate and accept themselves as lesbian, or others viewing a lesbian relationship from the outside. It is viewed as somethign that needs to be proceeded into with caution or viewed carefully or cautiously. The idea of homosexuality is not one viewed with comfort by the majority of the population including those who are themselves homosexual. The work partially illustrates my own coming to terms with my sexuality, through i had come out to myself several years prior and to my family the year before, i was just beginning to think of myself as out to those around me on a daily basis. The piece is 36" x 24", spray paint and detergent on cardboard, overlay of water soluble oil pastel on bristol board and collected "caution" tape." - Christina |
