Best Love

“My Salvation”

By Chrystal Layton, FL

Desciption of Submission: “It describes how I feel when I’m with my girlfriend and how she makes me feel.” –Chrystal

Why Karen and Melody Liked It:  It was a very beautiful poem about the love for your partner.

I’m lost in a world where I have to hide what I am

Just because I don’t follow the rules set by the man

I trust my own self to do what I feel

Because with my girl I know that it’s real

Our love is right no matter what they say

We never followed them, we went our own way

Our love saw us through when no one was there

I can see it in her eyes; I can tell that she cares

My mother won’t speak to me. My father doesn’t understand

My sisters ignore me, but she takes me as I am.

She doesn’t care if I am perfect or totally trim

She doesn’t mind that I’m short and not model slim

I’m chubby and round, like a white skinned Smurfette

She’s an Amazon Goddess, but hasn’t left my side yet

I don’t know why she stayed with me this long

All my life I thought I was wrong

Searching for my soul mate in the shape of a girl

But she tells me I’m normal the thing that’s wrong is the world

She makes me laugh and thinks I’m funny

She holds me close and calls me hunny

I love to hear her voice softly say,

“I love you and God loves you, that’s why She made you this way

To love me forever, just you and me

Together forever, that’s the way we will be

You’re not a super model, but you’re super to me

Your love in my life is precious to me”

She says all this and I start to agree

I’m fine just the way I am, I like being just me

But I’m not just me, she’s always there

Giving me love and showing she cares

When the world is cruel and I start to feel low

I always have one place I can go

In her arms with her love shining in

I will always find my sweet Salvation.
